MLP
Multi Layered Packaging (“MLP”) is defined by Plastic Waste Management Rules (PWM) 2016 as any material used or to be used for packaging and Having at least one layer of plastic as the main ingredients in combination with one or more layers of materials such as paper, paper board, polymeric materials, metalized layers, or aluminum foil, either in the form of a laminate or co-extruded structure.
Advantages of MLP are
- Light weight and low shipping volume
- Take less space on shelf
- Higher shelf life
- Preserve freshness of fresh produce over long periods of time
- Graphics friendly
Disposal of MLP’s
The following methods of disposal of MLP’s are popular and widely accepted: –
- Pyrolysis
- Co-Processing in Cement Kilns
- Road Construction
