ESG CONSULTING

ESG stands for Environment, Social, and Governance

Climate change & inclusive growth have emerged as major issues globally. Stakeholders now ask businesses to engage in sustainable practices and to be more responsible towards the society

Therefore, reporting of a company’s performance on sustainability related factors has become as vital as reporting on its financial performance

SEBI, in a notification dated May 05, 2021, has introduced new reporting requirements on ESG parameters, called as ‘Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR).’

Filing of BRSR shall be mandatory for the top 1000 listed companies (by market capitalization) from FY 2022-2023

BRSR seeks disclosures from companies on their performance against the following nine principles of ‘National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct’ (NGBRC) issued by MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs).

P1: Businesses should conduct and govern themselves with integrity, and in a manner that is Ethical, Transparent and Accountable.

P2: Businesses should provide goods and services in a manner that is sustainable and safe

P3: Businesses should respect and promote the well-being of all employees, including those in their value chains

P4: Businesses should respect the interests of and be responsive to all its stakeholders.

P5: Businesses should respect and promote human rights.

P6: Businesses should respect and make efforts to protect and restore the environment

P7: Businesses, when engaging in influencing public and regulatory policy, should do so in a manner that is responsible and transparent

P8: Businesses should promote inclusive growth and equitable development

P9: Businesses should engage with and provide value to their consumers in a responsible manner
